Tempered Glass Is Classified By Shape

(1) Tempered glass is classified by shape into flat tempered glass, curved tempered glass, and irregularly shaped tempered glass.

Flat tempered glass generally comes in twelve thicknesses, such as 11, 12, 15, and 19 mm; curved tempered glass comes in eight thicknesses, such as 11, 15, and 19 mm. The specific thickness after processing depends on the equipment and technology of each manufacturer. However, curved (i.e., bent tempered) tempered glass has a maximum curvature limit for each thickness. Irregularly shaped tempered glass can be used for curtain walls or other glass products with larger curvatures, such as J-shaped, V-shaped, and S-shaped shapes.

 

(2) Tempered glass is classified by its flatness into: superior grade and qualified grade. Superior grade tempered glass is used for automotive windshields; qualified grade is used for architectural decoration.
