Tempered glass, also known as reinforced glass or safety glass, is a high-strength glass material produced by heating it to near its softening temperature and then rapidly cooling it, creating compressive stress on the surface and tensile stress internally. Its mechanical strength is approximately 4-5 times that of ordinary glass, possessing excellent mechanical strength, impact resistance, and thermal shock resistance. It is one of the most widely used types of safety glass in construction, transportation, and electronics. When broken by external force, its fragments are blunt-angled particles, minimizing the risk of serious injury and providing good safety performance. Depending on the processing method, it can be divided into two categories: physically tempered glass and chemically tempered glass. The former is achieved through heat treatment, while the latter is obtained through ion exchange.
As a typical safety building material, tempered glass must comply with national standards (such as GB15763.2-2005 "Safety Glass for Building - Part 2: Tempered Glass") and international certification specifications to ensure its reliability and safety during use.
